PARE believes that the one of the most important remedies to overpopulation and abandonment is widespread sterilization. We therefore provide economic assistance through our Spay/Neuter Assistance Program (SNAP) which includes vaccinations and checkups. In the past 10 years PARE has also been very fortunate to be able to assist low income families’ companion animals with emergencies, thanks to government and private donations.
Another essential remedy is ongoing humane education, starting at the youngest age possible. Our volunteers give elementary school classes and with free literature to students and teachers. Our Education Committee has been making some progress in meetings with the PR Department of Education by demonstrating the importance and need for humane education and environment as part of the school curriculum.
PARE provides free humane education materials for all ages, including copies of Law 67 in both English and Spanish.
